I've been a freelance illustrator since 1976. After four years at Pratt Institute, my drawings were published in the Op-Ed page and The New York Times Week-in-Review. Soon I became the weekly illustrator for the About Long Island humor column which continued from 1977 until 1989. This allowed me to develop my own ideas to illustrate articles with very short deadlines. Advertising campaigns my work was part of include the Red Lobster account with Andrew Kner at Backer Spielvogel Bates. Other clients include AT&T, IBM, Sony, Medical Economics, Tucker Hilliard Associates and PSE&G.
In 1984 I began illustrating the best-selling Sniglets by Rich Hall. Collier Books published a five book humor series in paperback. In 1986 a cartoon panel called Sniglets was licensed for newspaper syndication. It ran for 2 1/2 years. Someone even developed and produced a board game in 1990 called the Game of Sniglets.
In 1995 I illustrated two children's science books : Bouncing & Bending Light and Simple Attractions both written by Steve Tomecek. The publisher was WH Freeman.
